"Criminal Defense is little more than the United States Constitution in action. Defense attorneys guarantee that your many rights are protected - your right to be presumed innocent, your right to remain silent, your right to counsel, your protection against unreasonable searches and seizure, your right to confront adverse witnesses and to scrutinize the evidence against you."

Defending People Accused of Crimes
We take seriously our obligation to defend our clients, and we take pride in the results we achieve. "Winning" a criminal case only rarely means winning at trial. Far more often, "winning" means negotiating the best possible plea bargain. Trial is usually the last resort. Still, the best way to avoid a trial is to prepare the case as if it will have to be tried. Preparation and forethought are the lawyer's essential tools. The client’s cooperation is essential.
We limit the number of cases we handle, so that we can give each matter the attention it deserves. From your first call to our office, an experienced criminal attorney will assist you. You will learn about the charges and you will help us understand the case against you. We will review the evidence with you, and we will answer all your questions. Then we will provide options, helpful advice and counsel when you have tough decisions to make.
Our fee is based on many factors. These include the court involved, the number and nature of the charges, the "degree" of the crime, the amount of time we expect to devote, and the difficulty of the matter. Our fee generally includes all pretrial services, including necessary motions and all pretrial appearances.
Our retainer in fourth degree crimes and Disorderly Persons Offenses is generally under $3000. In most cases, the defense of third degree offenses is under $5000. Our fee to defend second and first degree charges is more. Case costs, including travel expenses for court appearances, are additional. Trial, if necessary, will cost an additional daily trial fee. All fee agreements are in writing. We appear in all counties. Please call 973-275-1313 for an appointment to discuss your matter.
